Passionate About Inspiring Others

Greetings!  My name is Terryl Daluz.  My last name means, the light.  I am a speaker, an award-winning playwright, an entrepreneur, a creative being, a change agent, a beacon of light. Some people may ask, "what is a change agent?"  A change agent is someone who invests their time and energy into finding ways to create change in their life, in their community, and in the world.

I've dedicated most of my life working in the social service field to helping others.  It was while working with people, I discovered my passion and my gift of speaking and being able to connect on an intrinsic level.  

​

I was blessed with this gift at an early age.  I can recall as early as first grade, standing up in front of the class, captivating my classmates with my enthusiasm in reading "The Cat and The Hat." They liked it so much that they would request me to read it all the time, lol.

​

In my adolescent years, I worked during the summer as a counselor with elementary school kids.  I would help and encourage them to try their best and never give up on any activity they participated in.  Those qualities followed me into my adulthood where at twenty-five, I was asked by Michael Bolton (Grammy award-winning singer and native of New Haven) to spearhead his new partnership with The CityKids Foundation.  I was a Program Director for City Kids Safe Space of New Haven in which I developed curriculums and facilitated groups with teenagers fostering youth empowerment.

I spoke at high schools, universities, group homes, juvenile facilities, prisons, conferences, forums, fundraising events, you name it. I went on to work in residential group home facility settings throughout Connecticut than in Los Angeles.  While working in the juvenile justice system I found ways to engage and inspire our youth by rapport building, developing youth groups, and creative writing.  I continued to facilitate groups on youth empowerment, identity, self-esteem, team building, and leadership development.

As I look back at my life I've come to realize that everything that I've done in the past prepared me to be the speaker that I am today.  I was heading down this path, I didn't know where I was going but I trusted that I was going in the right direction.  

​

As I stepped into the speaker arena, I know that I was blessed with the gift of inspiring others with my words and energy.  Like my name, my purpose is to spread light.  I'm sharing my gift with others so that that they may find their purpose, their gift, their light.  If you're interested in having me share my gift at your next event, please reach out to me.
